Asian Shooters Shine at ISSF World Cup Hangzhou with Record-Breaking Performance

The ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun in Hangzhou, China, concluded with Asian shooting federations delivering a dominant and historic performance on the global stage.

With participation from 61 countries and more than 1,000 athletes and officials, the World Cup received high praise from ISSF President H.E. Luciano Rossi and other key international sports officials for its outstanding organizational excellence. Among the highlights of the competition were the Asian athletes, who delivered outstanding performances and achieved remarkable results on the world stage.

Asian athletes secured a total of 9 gold, 10 silver, and 10 bronze medals accounting for 64.4% of the total medal count and 60% of all gold medals awarded. In Rifle and Pistol events, Asian shooters claimed 8 gold, 8 silver, and 7 bronze medals, while Shotgun events contributed 1 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze.

In the overall medal standings, China emerged as the leading nation, securing an impressive 7 gold, 6 silver, and 5 bronze medals. India also delivered a strong performance, finishing third overall with 1 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals. The outstanding results of both federations further reflected the growing strength and competitiveness of Olympic Shooting Sport in Asian on the international stage.

Demonstrating the continent’s remarkable depth, Asian athletes reached the finals in 14 of the 15 individual events, underscoring the rising standard of competition across the region.

The World Cup also witnessed history in the making, as Asian federations broke three senior world records in Air Pistol Mixed Team Qualification, the Final, and Men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions Final and set one world junior record in Men's Air Pistol Qualification. All of these historic feats were achieved by Asian shooters, further cementing the continent's competitive excellence.
