The ASC inform its Member Federations that the qualification pathway for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games (LA28) has been officially confirmed, providing athletes and National Olympic Committees with a clear roadmap towards the world's premier sporting event.
Following approval by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board, based on a proposal submitted by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF), the qualification system outlines the allocation of 340 athlete quota places across the 15 Olympic shooting events, comprising 170 men and 170 women.
A total of 316 quota places will be earned through qualification competitions conducted between 2026 and 2028. In addition, 12 host country quota places have been reserved for the United States, while 12 Universality Places will promote broader global participation in the Olympic Games.
Each National Olympic Committee (NOC) may qualify a maximum of 24 athletes (12 men and 12 women), with up to two athletes per individual event.
The qualification system has been developed in accordance with the IOC Qualification System Principles, ensuring a fair, transparent and globally accessible qualification process. Athletes will have the opportunity to secure Olympic quota places through designated ISSF World Championships, Continental Championships, and other approved qualification competitions held throughout the qualification period.
The ASC encourages all Member Federations, athletes, coaches and National Olympic Committees across Asia to carefully review the qualification criteria and competition timeline to effectively plan their preparations for the LA28 Olympic Games.
