Opening Ceremony 16th Asian Shooting Championship (all events)16-30 Aug 2025 Shymkent, KAZ

The 16th Asian Shooting Championship (all events) 2025 officially opened at the Shymkent Shooting Range, Kazakhstan, in the presence of ASC President H.E. Sheikh Salman AlSabah and ISSF President H.E. Luciano Rossi. The ceremony was attended by the following government officials and sports dignitaries:

• H.E. Berik Assylov President of the Kazakhstan Sports Shooting Federation
• H.E. Gabit Syzdykbekov - Akim of Shymkent City.
• H.E. Oleg Pochivalov - Kazakhstan Sports Shooting Federation.
• H.E. Marat Sultangaziev - Akim of the Almaty Region
• H.E. Ruslan Esenalin - Chairman of the Committee on Sports and Physical Culture – Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
• H.E. Nurlan Nogerbek - Director General of the NOC of Kazakhstan.
• H.E. Nurlan Nogerbek - Director General of the NOC of Kazakhstan.
• H.E. Javaid S. Lodhi – ASC Vice President.
• Presidents/board members of several ASC member federations.

In his opening remarks, ASC President H.E. Sheikh Salman AlSabah expressed his gratitude to H.E. the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan for his support to shooting sport, and on behalf of the Asian Shooting Confederation, he thanked the people and government of Kazakhstan, KSSF President H.E. Berik Assylov, Secretary General H.E. Oleg Pochivalov, and all partners for successfully hosting the 16th Asian Shooting Championship.

ASC President appreciated the valuable contribution of the ISSF under the leadership of H.E. Luciano Rossi, highlighting its close cooperation with Asia in developing the shooting sport. He further paid gratitude to the Organizing Committee, KSSF, Technical Delegates, ITOs, Media and volunteers for their dedicated efforts in preparing this prestigious event, which gathers more than 1,000 athletes and officials from 27 Asian federations.

Looking ahead, the ASC President stressed the importance of investing in youth, securing more Olympic quota places, and preparing for the Los Angeles 2028 Games.

ASC President concluded by thanking Kazakhstan, ISSF President, Organizing Committee, Technical Delegates, ITOs, media, and volunteers, while wishing all athletes fair and successful competitions.
