"Minister of Youth and Sports Receives ASC President & Secretary General and Pledges Full Support for 2023 World Cup for Shooting in Egypt"

Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, the Minister of Youth and Sports, received H.E. Sheikh Salman Al-Hamoud Al-Sabah, President of the Asian Shooting Confederation (ASC) and Eng. Duaij Al-Otaibi, President of the Arab Shooting Federation & Secretary General of ASC, accompanied by Major General Hazem Hosni, President of the Egyptian and African Shooting Federation, at the ministry’s headquarters in the government district of the New Administrative Capital.

The meeting focused on the latest developments in organizing the 2023 World Cup for Shooting, which started today, Tuesday, at the Shooting Ranges Complex in the Egyptian International Olympic Games City in the New Administrative Capital. The tournament will continue until May 5, with the participation of more than 450 shooters representing 59 countries from around the world.

Dr. Ashraf Sobhi expressed full support for the tournament and commitment to overcoming any obstacles to ensure its success and positive representation of Egypt to the world. He also extended his best wishes for success to all participating countries.

The meeting also discussed strategies to support and develop the sport of shooting, including increasing the number of practitioners and establishing shooting ranges in clubs and youth centers nationwide, with the aim of achieving positive results for Egyptian players in international tournaments across all age groups.

The minister highlighted Egypt's continuous commitment to hosting major international tournaments throughout the year, leveraging the country's sports infrastructure built to international standards, modern transportation network, hotels, and administrative expertise.

The President of the Asian Shooting Confederation expressed gratitude to the Minister of Youth and Sports for his support and interest in the championship, and commended the efforts of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in promoting Egypt's presence on the international sports stage through hosting major sporting events. He also thanked the Egyptian Shooting Federation for their constant cooperation in ensuring the success of the tournament.

The President of the Arab Shooting Federation praised the efforts of the Egyptian state in implementing world-class shooting ranges, and recognized Egypt's capabilities in terms of sports infrastructure and organizational expertise.

Following the meeting, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi accompanied the Asian and Arab shooting delegation on an inspection tour of the ministry's headquarters, the government district, and Egypt's Islamic Cultural Center in the new administrative capital.
