The 11th ASC Executive Committee Meeting
5th April 2008, Nanjing Grand Hotel, China
The ASC President, H.E. Sheikh Salman Al Sabah, gave
the floor to the Deputy Director General of Jiangsu Province Sport
Bureau, Mr. Zhou Xu, to address the meeting.
Mr. Zhou Xu welcomed all ASC Officials and Executive
members on behalf of Jiangsu Province, and expressed his delight at
being able to host both the 2nd Asian Air Gun Championships and the
11th ASC Executive Committee meeting in Nanjing.

The President then welcomed all Executive Committee
members, thanked them for their support and declared the meeting
open at 1900.
H.E. Sheikh Salman Al Sabah expressed the importance
of unity and working as one team to achieve our objective to
strengthen the shooting sports throughout Asia and the world under
the umbrella of the ISSF.

Key points highlighted during the meeting were:
-
The necessity to support our strategy for
ongoing development by increasing the number of programs for
youth and junior competitions;
-
Continuously upgrading our communication
facilities, particularly the ASC website and E-mailing systems;
and
-
ASC’s adherence to raising awareness of a
“clean” sport by supporting initiatives of our Medical Committee
ASC Vice Presidents put forth several proposals:
-
The establishment of an ASC academy to be run on
distance-learning principles. An interim team was formed to
follow up the preparations for success;
-
Continuous upgrading of Judges and Coaches by
holding more local, national and International instruction
courses; recent examples being the ISSF “B” Judges’ License
Course and EST Course held in India;
-
Increasing the amount of International
competitions throughout the Asian Continent. Such as this 2nd
Asian Air Gun Championship: and
-
Studying the best ways of increasing sponsorship
for our sport

Decisions arising from the Technical and Judges’
Committee proposals:
-
Renaming of the position of Assistant Jury to
Extra Jury in order to convey that the position is indeed a full
Jury position but at no financial burden to the Organizing
Committee;
-
Additional Jury members to be assigned to
shotgun ranges for major competitions;
-
The encouragement to appoint one member from the
Technical and Judges’ committee to serve as a Jury member on all
Asian and regional Championships;
-
The change of date of the 3rd Asian Air Gun
Championship (to be held in Qatar) to 2009 owing to a very
crowded 2010 International and Asian schedule
Approved proposal from the Medical and Anti-Doping
Committee:

The Executive Committee approved the following
courses:
2008:
2nd Practical Coaching course for Rifle and Pistol
in Bahrain 1-7 November; and
2nd Practical Coaching course for
Shotgun in Kuwait 24-29 October
2009:
3rd Practical Coaching course for Rifle and Pistol
in China; and
3rd Practical Coaching course for
Shotgun in Thailand
Having no other comments and questions, the meeting
thereby adjourned at 2100.
